Penny Hensley Williams, 48, of Chatham, Va., went to be with Jesus on Wednesday, January 25, 2023.
Penny was born on December 1, 1974, to Shirley Hensley Cooke and the late Jerome Calloway Hensley.
Penny was an active member of Greenpond Baptist Church, where she was once a substitute teacher, youth leader, activities coordinator, and children’s music director. She was a talented beautician, a Mary Kay consultant, an awesome cook, was a huge Elvis fan, and especially loved Joey’s singing and watching Ben play baseball. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, daughter and friend.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Jesse Williams of 25 years; sons, Joey Williams, and Ben Williams; best friend, Christi Owen; her beloved dogs, “Dodger” and “Cash”; and lots of family and a world of friends.
Penny was also predeceased by her sister, Ann Marie Adkins; her aunt, Pat Hensley; and her mother’s husband, Kenneth D. Cooke.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, January 29, 2023, at Greenpond Baptist Church with Pastors R.G. Rowland, Steve Zimmerman, and David Turbyfill officiating. Interment will follow at Greenpond Baptist Church Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m., Saturday, January 28, 2023, at Greenpond Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at other times at the residence of Penny’s mother, Shirley Cooke.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully request memorial donations be made to Greenpond Baptist Church Building Fund, 7120 Anderson Mill Rd. Chatham, Va.
